MEET THE DESIGNER

rACHEL SCHWARZ (she/her)

Aside from picking dandelions as a girl, my first foray into the world of floral design was for my brother and sister-in-law's intimate sea-side wedding in 2018. (Click here to check out their Junebug Wedding.) I quickly fell in love with all things flowers, but I have a soft spot for creating unique and expressive arrangements for weddings. After designing for a number of friends' weddings and enjoying the craft more and more each year, I took the leap to launch Crescendo Floral Studio in 2021.

I am drawn to details and take inspiration from the windswept and sun(and rain)-kissed coast of Vancouver Island. My focus is on balance, movement, shape, and colour to bring together elements of the natural world for each arrangement. Because of this, you will find that no two bouquets or arrangements are perfectly alike, and my style plays with colour gradients and asymmetry.

We CAre about the environment

It is no secret that the floral industry can have a negative impact on the environment. At Crescendo Floral Studio, we work hard to keep our footprint small through minimizing the use of plastic, recycling and reusing everything possible, using natural alternatives to floral foam, and not adding any chemicals, paints, or sprays to the flowers. Most importantly, we source locally grown blooms and foliage, choosing to partner with local flower farmers instead of using blooms flown from across the globe. All of our flowers and foliage are grown in BC, and the majority are grown right here on Vancouver Island.

A commitment like marriage deserves to be honoured and celebrated in all its forms. We know that weddings and all the traditions and language that come along with them can make it challenging for LGBTQ+ couples to feel confident and comfortable while booking vendors. At Crescendo Floral Studio, we commit to thoughtful language and to being *so* excited about your love.

We believe that all love deserves to be celebrated, and we strive to create an inclusive process from start to finish. Because of this, we have removed gendered language in describing our floral offerings, offer customizable packages, and have a space for pronouns on our inquiry forms. We want to serve every couple to the best of our abilities and make sure that the wedding flowers are a direct reflection of their unique love story.
